Summary I needed to replace a customer's video card that had gone bad. This customer doesn't play games and only uses the computer for email, the internet, and Microsoft Office. This is a great cheap video card that fit the bill perfectly.
Summary Overall, its a good purchase. I run it in a low profile pc running Windows 7 connected on a HDTV via HDMI. It does that job well. My only point is the overscan/underscan setting is a little bit less usefull than what ATI have right now. But it work well on XBMC.
Pros Low Profile or full height installation 1 GB DDR3 memory Good driver support
Cons Much faster low profile cards are available for the same price, or less, from NCIX - also with free shipping. Do your research before buying.
Summary Needed a low profile PCIE card right away, and bought one of these G210 cards locally on impulse (usually a mistake). Then I checked the Tom's Hardware video card performance hierarchy chart, and ordered the low profile ASUS Radeon HD 5450 Silent 1GB DDR3 and then, after further consideration, also the low profile ASUS Radeon HD 6450 Low Profile 625MHZ 1GB (for $5 more, or $5 less after rebate. NCIX currently also offers both these cards with free shipping. (The Radeon HD 5450 rates 3 levels higher/faster than the G210, the Radeon HD 6450 rates 8 levels higher than the G210!) Hopefully I can return the G210.
Summary Put to work within a couple minutes with the drivers included. I'm using win7 home. The cd that comes with the card includes the 267.85 version of the drivers for winxp, vista, and 7, 32 and 64 bits. Mail in rebate (prepaid credit card) was received quickly compared to others companies.
Pros -cheap -better than on board graphics -nice selection of I/O ports -silent!
Cons -heat sink covers a second slot
Summary Good basic graphics card. It was purchased for a budget build for my parents, so their need for graphics power is not that great. I wanted something better than on board graphics, and something that didn't require a fan, and this is what I came up with. It's not going to blow your socks off with it's graphics power, but it does the job for non- or low graphics gamers (old or simple games). Not sure how it would stack up against a higher graphics game, but that wasn't the purpose of my build.
Big pro for silence (and cool while doing so!) and a selection of low form factor I/O shields.
Medium sized con for the fact that it takes up two slots...
Summary The card came in a relatively small box. Upon opening it shows the card itself in a protective bag. What impresses me is the large piece of metal heatsink that Asus adds on this card. It looks sturdy and carries the weight, maybe an overkill for the heat the card would generate, but its appearence and precise installation definitely got my attention.
Heatsink may not be the most important part of such product, but I believe it shows how much a company cares for little details.
Summary Chances are you already know this isn't a high end gaming video card, but for the cost and features of the card, it's a decent purchase. Will you be able to run Crisis; No. But I have been running The Sims 3, World of Warcraft, Doom 4, Fallout 3 and more just fine.
Cons - Not current gen tech. Better suited as a replacement for on-board graphics or as parts for a cheap system build
Summary This card will not play current generation games with any amount of quality. However, for older games, and if you are simply looking for an upgrade over integrated graphics, this card fits the bill. It is perfect for an HTPC build, since it is completely silent. I am using the card as a secondary display card for a multi-monitor setup.
Because the price is great, if you are looking to build a basic (read: non-gaming) PC, this card is a great choice if your motherboard doesn't have integrated graphics.
